Sonoco-Alcore Selects UniPrint as Enterprise Printing Solution
Global packaging provider replaces multiple printer drivers with universal printer driver
Toronto, Ontario, December 7, 2011 – UniPrint (www.uniprint.net), the leader in printing virtualization for server-centric environments, today announced that it has been selected by Sonoco-Alcore S.a.r.l. to consolidate its entire printing infrastructure across Europe. Sonoco-Alcore, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sonoco, is one of the largest diversified global manufacturers of consumer and industrial packaging and provider of packaging solutions. UniPrint makes printer deployment and management simpler, and increases printing efficiency and productivity, by replacing multiple printer drivers with a single universal printer driver.
Sonoco-Alcore has set the standard for innovative, consumer-preferred products and seamless, single-source service in the packaging industry. Following the consolidation of all of its European data centers, UniPrint has become the enterprise printing solution for its Brussels, Belgium-based European headquarters. The solution will also support further expansion across the continent.
“After a period of substantial expansion, we needed to consolidate the disparate systems we had inherited from acquisitions,” commented Marc De Schryer, Manager of Computer Services & Infrastructure at Sonoco-Alcore. “This necessitated a specialized printing solution capable of universally supporting our complex IT environment, and providing seamless printing to our workforce in highly dispersed locations. We experienced immediate benefits following UniPrint’s seamless integration. The UniPrint solution has enabled the worry-free and cost-effective printing environment we envisioned when we set out to overhaul our printing processes.”
Businesses today operate in a global environment with multiple client platforms and employees demanding anywhere, any device printing. UniPrint is printer-vendor independent and can be introduced into any computing environment. Its Portable Document Format (PDF)-based universal printer driver technology enables easy access, consistently fast printing and secure delivery to users across different platforms, offices and geographic.
“We are proud to assist Sonoco-Alcore in solving its printing challenges,” said Arron Fu, VP of Software Development at UniPrint. “A universal printer driver is ideally suited to complex IT infrastructures of modern businesses, like Sonoco-Alcore, that need to support fat and thin client device printing, as well as remote printing. Our solution simplifies printer administration and enables employees to print how and where they want, in an efficient and cost-effective manner.”
